Consent.
What a simple concept, but not so simple for today’s digital download, social media, pre-apocalyptic ascension culture. The one thing I am learning is that even people who have done the spiritual work need to check themselves when dealing with the uninitiated.
People need to consider other people’s wishes when doing good deeds or complimentary things for them. As odd as it sounds, sometimes you can overstep your boundaries when doing things for someone. Or rather, overstep their boundaries. Most people have boundaries and therefore need to be asked their permission if you are not sure where their boundaries are,
For example, healers who try to send healing to others, still need permission to do that healing. Though we were taught to do good deeds, a misplaced one can cause harm or distress. It’s common sense, and one of the principles of being a healer.
One of my teachers gave the example to me of sending someone healing and having the healing work only to have the issue return due to the fact that the issue was a lesson from the universe. Lessons return if we do not learn them.
As for good intentions, they are great to have but like all intentions, they need to be examined.
I am saying this only to remind myself of a lesson learned this week. A person had great intentions which went wrong due to the fact that they did not know my intentions and were not familiar with their environment. Many people are not blessed with situational awareness and use their value judgment to assess situations incorrectly. This caused me a great deal of pain this week and made me reassess many things in my healing practice.
The situation was resolved quickly by confronting the offending actions and stating why they were offensive.
In the end, we all agreed that asking for consent would have avoided the issue in the first place. Also, stations what was expected even if they are obvious could have helped as well. That’s something that today’s society needs as most are not willing to do the heavy lifting to coexist in a world with many varied lifestyles and cultures.
Great people the way you would like to be treated.
